Dear Agent,

As you are probably aware, last Friday the Florida Legislature passed a bill to re-enact PIP and the bill is now on the way to the Governor for his signature. This triumph was the result of the hard work of a group of individuals including Representative Ellyn Bogdanoff, many insurance agents, and a “few” others, including U.S. Security Insurance Company (USSI). We have always been on your side and fought for these great results.

We just want to give you a preliminary overview of what we plan to offer under our personal auto program going forward. We will keep you informed as we receive additional information.

• USSI presently offers voluntary PIP, similar to the No-fault law before its expiration, on new and renewal business. Rates and benefits are similar to those offered prior to 10/1/07. We have never refused to write this important coverage.
You can continue offering the above existing voluntary PIP coverage until 1/1/08 when the new PIP becomes mandatory.
We will not offer any other replacement PIP type coverage (i.e. Medical Care).
The more policies you now sell including PIP, the less number of customers that we will both need to contact on November 15 (the notification date required under the new legislation) to inform them that they now have to add the new mandatory PIP.
